Chow Mein is usually relegated to being a side dish, but my fresh take on these classic Chinese-American noodles upgrades them to main dish status. This Chinese chicken chow mein recipe provides you with a Chinese-style spicy noodles with boneless chicken. It is cooked with stir frying method in Chinese style.
Steps to make Chinese Chicken Chow Mein:
- First, season the chicken breast with black pepper, soy sauce, constarch, oyster sauce and seasoning. Cover with a cling film and put in the refrigerator to marinate for at least an hour.
- In a clean bowl, make the sauce by combining oyster sauce, soy sauce, black pepper, chilli sauce, honey, vinegar and chilli. Cook the noodles in enough water until soft (not overcooked). Strain in a colander and drizzle some sesame oil over it. Use a fork to combine and set aside.
- Place a non stick pan or wok on high flame. Add the vegetable oil. Allow to heat up and stir fry the chicken until cooked. Add the ginger and garlic paste. Stir fry for about 2 minutes then add the habanero pepper, carrot, bellpeppers, onions and cabbage. Stir fry for 3-4 minutes.
- Add the cooked noodles and the sauce. Stir fry everything together on high heat for about 3 minutes. Adjust salt and seasoning if necessary. Garnish with toasted sesame seeds. Serve hot😉
